Curtiss A : 26st Annual John Lennon Tribute - Dec. 8, 2005
|
First Avenue ~ ~ ~ Downtown
Mpls on a thursday night in December at the classic nightclub - First
Avenue. The eight of December brought together Curtiss A with a little
help from his friends for the 26st Annual John Lennon Tribute. Twin
Cities fans of John Lennon and The Beatles gathered and filed in during
this evening for this tribute on an unfortunate date in rock music
history. Each and every date on the calendar has its share of tragic
moments through out history from the famous to the smallest of voices
in the crowd. The crowd mix on hand were mostly in the range of
twenty something to forty something in age. All in tribute mode for the
atmosphere and music that John Lennon and The Beatles brought to the
music world. This was a four hour plus evening with eight to twelve
musicians on stage performing a set list of fifty plus songs from The
Beatles and John Lennon's solo career. As they played, video screens
projected photos of The Beatles and John Lennon. A tribute, a celebration and a tradition in the Twin Cities.
Twin Cities cable program TC Muzique
Host Jay Smiley ( Mr Swizzo ) along with
Dutch Van Vranken ( The Dutchman )
were out and up on stage for the
introduction for this evening of tribute
with Curtiss A and friends. In a white Tux
and Beatles t-shirt, The Dutchman was
out gathering signatures from the crowd
which would cover his Tux jacket by the
end of the night.
