MSRP
is a Minnesota based band that came together as they like to say
"Formed over a pan of spam and roasted marshmellows". They put together
a eleven track album in 2006 called 'One Hundred Fold Origami Meteor'.
The album is independently produced by the band. This album has a blend of Industrial, Metal and Techno style with
elements of raw energy, heavy aggression, melodic vocals and techno
programming. The first song 'Going Nowhere' sets the pace and their
overall approach for this album with the guitar work, drums,
programming and somewhat catchy lyrics and vocal performance. Only one
song is over five minutes in length which keeps the album flowing
smoothly from song to song. Most of the songs may sound rather similar
at first listen with the programming and vocals differences shaping the
individual songs. The song 'The Fire Behind Her Eyes' stands out as
being different with a piano like opening which carries on in a lighter
vain with no vocals. The more easy going melodic song is 'Letter to
Aphrodite' which could also be played as an acoustic song. One may
wonder if their music comes across more heavy and thicker played live
than the recorded album. No idea what MSRP stands for, perhaps
Mesmorizing Seductive Rock Project is the under current that will shape
their future albums.
