Review :

This mini disk adventure is an exciting look into the current line up in the world of My Ruin. Not only does it have a cover of the Plasmatics (Sex Junkie) but it also has a few tracks that did not make it on there last release “The horror of beauty”. Typically there are reasons why songs don’t make it on a full length album, such as them being to long, not fitting in with the rest of the tracks of the cd, or just all around being boring songs. I can’t say any of those three reasons for these two tracks on here that where not released on “ The horror of beauty”.
This ep also contains a 13 minute video directed by Teri B. (vocalist) her self. It begins with Teri introducing the band then showing some snippets of  live footage. By the end of the video you have a really good feeling about the vibe of the band. Every one who is involved defiantly comes from a different backgrounds musically yet they all can come together and interact well with one another. Not to mention Teri B. being one of the best front’s out there today. I enjoy this band immensely because they do have a positive message for women out there, there music does not sound like every one else…and they just simply rock!
“I was born like this with hips like this! With lips like this and wrists like this! And fists like this to hit you with! Not made to measure baby, one sizes does not fit all!”

Review :

This woman is one force never to be reckoned with! In this two disk venture she is singing live at intimate venues sharing her stories through singing piano madness, whispering, moaning and screaming. One of the shows, the recordings were taken from was the infamous knitting Factory out in New York that artist such as Scarling and Rasputina have shared the stage. Most of the other places where Opera houses and Theaters so she has a larger range of audience to assault.

Diamanda’s an artist that either you love or hate. Her songs are so full of emotion and energy  that you really need to put your self in an environment where you will be alone for a few hours to just sit and take in her music at maximum volume to get the right effect. One of her more up beat songs of this album that I really enjoy is “Baby’s Insane”. She dedicated this song at Joe’s Pub to a man named Garth MacNeil (her webmaster). At the being of it she talks about how a person out in San Francisco gave her a terrible review, it was kind of funny because at the end of the track she calls him a spoiled sport that was trying to ruin all her fun.

Over all I would strongly suggest this cd or “The Singer” if you are not very familiar with her work. This cd really shows more of her personality while in the singer it paints a clearer picture of how she writes and sets up most of her older tracks. However if you just want something that will scare little children for Halloween time I would suggest “vena cava”, this album is my favorite of all time by her. It brings you to a very dark place so I typically would not suggest it for the casual listener. It was dedicated to her brother who died, and through out the album she is reciting conversations that they shared and little foot steps that run up and down her spine all day long. So you are warned!
