Shiny Toy Guns - Telephone - Apraxia : June 15,2005

The Twin Cities scene brings about a mix of bands that often come together when and where one may least expect. Those that caught the buzz on this show dropped in on this wednesday night for a grand night of electro pop industrial triple dose at the Euphoria. A night of vocals, electro energy and atmosphere in the smaller room of the Euphoria with the dance space upstairs. A raw energy sound with the brick walls, mirrors, video screens and up close floor level action of the bands and crowd. This evening was all about the singers and the energy vibe that came together with Shiny Toy Guns, Telephone and Apraxia.
Apraxia came out of Detroit to Mpls in 2001 where Siren313 on vocals and Dr Watson on keys have brought together an industrial pop sound. They were up with a t-shirt fasion look and filled the room early with fog and darkside lighting. The songs 'Strangelove' and 'The Future' are good examples of their work from the 12 track album called 'Weapons of Mass Deception'. More so on the heavier end of the electro pop zone.
Telephone, telephone, what's your number one may say as they came together in 2002 with lead singer Lolly Pop. Their number may be 612 as there is a band called Telephone in Oregon that may be going with the number 503 - an area code means to identify one from the other. They took on the night with a dark cocktail party fashion image. Lolly Pop is the upfront woman with the voice and moves to stamp her Euro Pop edge that will buzz and ring your phone into a call waiting for more Telephone. With Mr Jeffrey and Howard, she hit the room with a number of songs - have a listen to 'Elevator Operator', 'Life on Hold' and 'Paris in the Rain'.
Shiny Toy Guns out of California and touring full time with their 15 track album called 'We are Pilots'. Out gleaming in white, they took to the room with their cutting edge upbeat pop. Striking quick with the movement of sharp to the point action as Carah Faye on lead vocals, Gregori Chad with guitar and vocals, Jeremy Dawson on keys and Mike Martin at drums hit the room full throttle. They reel in the crowd with a number of songs that rally on course for a closer listen such as 'Rainy Monday', 'Don't Cry Out', 'Le Disko' and 'Turn to Real Life'. They hit hard into the night and left a good time mark on the Twin Cities scene.
