The Kitty Cat Klub is in the Dinky Town area of Mpls. near the University of Minnesota campus. This Saturday evening hosted the Nell Harrison 'Band of Travelers' showcase which included music, comedy, magic and jugglers. The Kitty Cat Klub has a coffee house lounge atmosphere with a comfy mix that includes the bar, stage area, a variety of seating options and decorated layout which incudes a number of art work and posters.
Was able to catch some of the fine singing of Andreana Cortes, along with the jugglers and comic acts. Found a good spot to watch the Comic Magic act of Booker. His performance is laced with off the wall magic and comic lines which gathered responses of laughter and surprise. Was that 'dish soap' he drank? A good mix of humor and magic. Jason and Amy of 'Great Girls Blouse' presented an accoustic set which is toned down from their heavier rock performance. They presented alot of energy and spirit with her singing and the guitar action which all sounded great and went over well. A rock solid glimpse at their work. Check out their future shows as they play out about the Twin Cities.
Who is 'Violet'? An accoustic side project of Viva Long with Trevor and Jennifer Jones at this event. Here, Viva presented some of her material that she does not play with the band 'Filthy Divine'. Those that have seen her with 'Filthy Divine' know her voice and here we got a good sample of what she can present as a solo singer project. Perhaps we will see more in the future. What were those tunes? Maybe a CD project in the making.
The evening showcase closed with 'Dander' unplugged as they promoted themselves for this show. Sounded great unplugged. How good is 'Dander'? They have recently appeared on the MTN Mpls. cable show 'TC Muzique'. Their most recent CD is 'City of Flakes' where can be found many good examples of their work including the songs "Concentration" and "Sleep With Me". Have to cut this write up short. A good time show had by all.
