Found time to drop by Star Central to see three bands that I ran into recently and they were all playing on the same night. All three bands are in the arena of heavy rock, hardcore and metal. Early up to stir things up well was ' Ribsaw ' with their bloody good time metal. No blood as such. Painted up and fully equiped with cardboard ribsaws and mallots among their mix of humor edged aggression. Their new drummer Robyn opened with a hardy beat the drum intro. With Ribsaw one will find the good humor guitar work of Jake and the vocal roar of Randy working the lyrics and the crowd into the Ribsaw spirit of a good time. Ed on bass seems to have mastered the six string bass for all the songs this evening. Humor comes in many forms as Randy held up a rubber mouse by the tail and said in defense of mice everywhere - eat a pussy save a mouse. The crowd was aggressively part of the show as the cardboard ribsaws, mallots and a crate were demolished in their good time frenzy. A hardcore metal mix hit the stage with ' Serrated Edge ' as Rob on vocals works every spot on the stage along with much of the crowd area as he does make his way off stage. There's six string bass action here with Shawn and the guitar work of Brett charges up their songs 'Bodies in the Basement' and 'Nightmare'. A rather solid good time effort as Rob was rather charged up to be playing here with Ribsaw. Formerly known as Clajstagora, the band ' Arcana ' is out with some member changes and the new name. It was getting late on a thursday night, yet one may say that Arcana displays elements of thrash, rapcore and metal. Lets call the first impression progressive rapcore metal. Yet, the heavy edge and the vocals of Matt are not always of a rapcore pace. A five member band with Justy - drums, Aaron - guitars, Matt - vocals, Jason - bass and Ryan with DJ table action. Some good action for a thursday night as there always seems to be a wide mix of music in the Twin Cities..
