Aesma Daeva at Star Central
|
It was a fair weather evening for music and travel as I was able to
work my way to Star Central from the Nonpoint - Candiria event that
began earlier in the evening. It was somewhat of a surprise to hear
that a Thursday evening would host the work of 'Aesma Daeva' and
yet there was no better way to close out the evening.
Some bands or events may rock the casbah or shake your booty and
here we have six members of which are not shy of either party time
activity. Yet, as members of the band 'Aesma Daeva' they brought forth
here this evening their self proclaimed Symphonic Metal. Those on hand
that caught wind of this show or sailed here from other musical shores
sat back with applause in the background of their thoughts within the
silence enhanced atmosphere of the room. The eyes and ears in the crowd
instantly took notice of the operatic vocal beauty that is Melissa
Ferlaak as she performed in a deep red gown. The symphonic grace of the
evening included Theresa Hanley on violin and Eden Taylor on bass. The
metal side of their musical equation is underscored by the guys all
dressed in black and displaying a particular musical sophistication in
the form of John Prassas and Earl Root on guitars and Tim Klatt with
drums and percussion. One may well wonder how Mozart or other giants of
the classical era would relate to the metal perfomance of 'Aesma
Daeva'. Their musical compositions and
performance well deserves further review by those that cover some of
the smaller scale classical performances. Much more information is
available at their website and they often tour outside the Twin Cities
area.
