Here we had a all ages show on a sunday at Star Central bringing
together four bands each with their own distinct style and level of
experience. A fair weather day for scene fans to get out and see some
original bands.
The 'Drones' bring forth a heavy acid rock approach with english and spanish lyrics. Not everyone will understand the type of music they are persuing while still being able to admire their original style. Good examples of their musical expression can be found with the songs 'Break Away' , 'Como Puedes Respirar? ' and 'Soledad'. With the band ' IS ' we find four members led by Tiffany on vocals. A rather new band in the Twin Cities with a good time approach with echoes of 80's and 90's rock. A steady flowing rock sensibility where the vocals and stage movements of Tiffany are central to the bands appeal. A new band to watch and see how their stage performance and set of material developes from show to show. Out of Iowa is Destrophy bringing forth a precise blend of hard grind and well paced vocal movements. A very dynamic performance with Ari on vocals and guitar leading the impact of their music. They bring their own light show which adds even more depth to their performance edge. The impact of their music can be found live and on their album 'Chrysalis' with the songs 'Let it Go', 'Rise Again' and 'Why I hate goodbye'. Red Shift is an all out six member band with a layered industrial metal mix. They shift gears along the industrial front with a heavy rock assault on the senses of what metal, industrial and hardcore elements can produce. From their EP 'Aphelion' one can get a good sense of the range of their vocal, guitar and industrial soundscape with the songs 'Stygian', 'Visage' and 'Nomad'. They're working on a full length album due out in 2005. The sets of Destrophy and Red Shift had to be cut short to meet the time limit for the show which was brought together by Cole Young of Tru Talent Management. Midwest Movement was on hand with their winter spring 2005 sampler CD which includes many of the best bands in the midwest including Destrophy.
