Dropped by Star Central on this wednesday night to see what Downside of
Truth is up to these days. Got to see some action from a band called
'Sylvia' out of
Burnsville, MN kick off the evening. A five member band that came
together in 2004 and have recently been out playing regularly in the
Twin Cities area. They bring to stage a younger style of aggressive
hard edged metal. They were having some video footage shot at this show
and will likely press forward and fit in well with the heavy hard core
mix of bands. The band called 'Denied' is out of Superior, Wisc kicked
up some dust with their brand of heavy rockin metal with a party time
edge that some may call old school metal. I was somewhat sidelined with
conversation on the upcoming Mpls Mayhem metal festival due to hit Star
Central on may 6st and 7th. It looks like there will be alot of
activity and interest in this event with Sodom, Dew Scented and a
number of national acts coming together for this one. Also, Twin Cities
based Epicurean and Si6ks will take part in this one. It will be
interesting to see the crowd that comes in for this one which will
likely include many from out of state. Perhaps a sold out capacity
crowd situation will occur. Downside of Truth has been somewhat layed
back and regrouping as of late as they are focusing on touring out of
state more to Iowa and Wisconsin. It does sound like they are working
on new material and may very well bring together a more so heavy set of
material as they work the scene. As Chris South says, "Keep it Heavy".
They did close out the night heavy and scene fans will likely see more of what
they will hit the stage with in 2005
