One step followed by several more led to a stop off at Star Central on
a saturday night to have a look at the new 13th Step. New as in
regrouped with a new singer and a new sound for the fans. With Josh up
on vocals they hit the stage hard and heavy with a strobe intense
performance. Looks like a mix of old fans and new fans came out along
with a general crowd mix that were on hand for the first three bands.
Sunset Black, In the Morning and Illusive are all sharp crisp bands
that rallied in a crowd for this evening. This new 13th Step has a
similar bounce to their stride that worked well for the original early
13th Step. With the guitar work of Matt, the heavy end bass of Mike,
the hard hitting percussion of Shawn and their new singer Josh stirring
things up with his aggressive vocal blend. Among their set of new
material are the songs 'Someday', 'Addiction' and 'The Haunted'. Scene
fans can get a good sense of their hard edged metal approach by
checking out a live video they have up on their website which was done
by Yager Video Productions. They will likely have some sort of CD
available in the months ahead along with t-shirts with their new freaky
faces art work. Time shall reveal with each step how effective their
drive will define 13th Step as a metal force that can surge beyond the
local scene here in the Twin Cities.
