Filthy Divine and Autonomy Shake up the Urban Wild Life Club
|
Hail a saturday night of local original music, this evening at the
Urban Wildlife Club. Three bands took to stage and rocked the night for
the rather packed house. A number of fans came over from Wisconsin to
see SMR , 'Autonomy', and 'Filthy Divine'. Both 'Filthy Divine' and
'Autonomy' have often played Wisconsin clubs which made for a triple
treat for the Wisconsin visitors. Did not get to the scene early to see
'SMR' who are from Wisconsin. But heard they put forth a solid good
time set to get the evening rolling. 'Autonomy' is up and out to rally
the music scene crowd as they move forward in 2004. Ether, Billy and
Rockula hit the stage charged with a set of material that has impact
and musical vision that they've worked hard to bring to form and excite
the crowd. One may say "We Explode" with the song 'Ignite' and "You
could go the distance" with the song 'Scars" or even say "I fell in
love today" with the song 'We have it all'. They have a new CD
for 2004 available.
'Filthy Divine' closed out the night with a swell
of stage and crowd energy. Time to shake, rattle and rock out the night
along the 'Filthy Divine' tracks of intrigue, mystery and all around
good time. They are often in the studio working on a new CD for future
release. They will soon release the new studio recorded single
"America" along with playing First Avenue in downtown Mpls. They have
their new band logo on the bass drum and the t-shirts they have
available. With this show they brought out a new song "Cemetery Road"
to join the crowd favorites which include "The Maze", "Flying Away" and
"America". They had a guest musician Amy on violin. More to come as they take to the 2004 music scene.

On scene comments from the drummer
Kennedy of the band SUIDICE
All three of the bands at U.W. on Jan. 31st were great. Though there styles
were all fairly different, they all seemed to fit nicely together. I'd seen SMR
only six days earlier for the first time and I was blown away by how
entertaining of a show they can put on. I'm not very much of a hip-hop,
rap-rock type of a guy but I've got to give them credit. Seeing them at U.W.,
they were just as great. However, this time they had a substitute drummer
filling in who'd only had two practices with them before hand. The guy was rock
solid the whole show. S.M.R. really knows how to put on a tight, professional
show.
AUTONOMY was great too. These guys really looked like they take alot of
pride in what they're doing. I think that's an important quality for a band to
have and it was nice to see it. Being a drummer myself, I especially liked all
of the cool stick twirling and general showmanship of this group's drummer.
FILTHY DIVINE definately did a great job as headliners that night. All of
the songs sounded excellent. My friend who I brought to this show caught the
"boy shirt" that Viva threw out into the audience, he was pretty excited about
that (I was jealous). We both talked later about the show and agreed that F.D.
has somewhat of an element of drama to there show. It was cool to see the
violin player too.
All of the bands sounded great that night. I hope to see all of these bands
again some time. www.suidice.com
