Downtown at the Urban on a Friday night was a good time to catch
Marcato up from Cedar Falls, Iowa. They were in good company as
Esuna kicked things off in good form and Marcato would be playing
second. Marcato came together late 1999 and some of you may have heard
some songs from their 2004 CD 'In the Absence of Violent
Motion'. Perhaps the songs 'Rapture' or 'The Day that Never Was'
. The lead singer Kevin Drew and the guys were able to lay back and
take in some Esuna and chat with others before their set. Their was a
friendly crowd on hand as they took to the Urban stage. With a well
strung set of material they hit heavy as Jason Droste with five string bass
action and the clever vocal guitar work of Kevin crafted a song to song
flow of energy. Dual guitars and percussion with a blend of
melodic lyrical content and heavy metal elements that boldly
reach out to your musical senses. They have been working on a new CD
that may be out in July 2005. They have a video up at trueplayer.net
and a myspace.com page.
