A wide mix of bands will find their way to the Urban Wildlife Club in downtown Mpls. Mostly bands from the Twin Cities area yet often touring bands and sometimes a Zippo showcase or other event will occur at the Urban. On this Saturday night we found the bands 'Esuna' and 'Phedge' joining 'Filling Avoid'. At the Urban its common practice to move about between the corner bar itself and the Rock Room along with taking in some of the street life outside the venue. Looks like 'Phedge' was short a bass player so the line-up changed which put 'Esuna' up first. They dig in hardy for the crowd as they work to gain fans and expand out with the scene. The 'Esuna' band members are Jeremy Montoya-Vocals, Bryan Greger on Bass, Paul Perisic with Guitar, Sean Hill on Guitar and John Nelson at Drums. They brought in a fair size crowd that were well into the music that 'Esuna' is all about. Lead vocalist Jeremy said they are working hard on presenting a constant driving performance - straight forward, simplefied with layers to best draw in and warm up the fans to their music. They are working on an EP to be out sometime this winter. No bass player for 'Phedge' on hand so up next was 'Filling Avoid'. With a new Album out called 'Angles Add Deception' - they are out giving the scene a good dose of their music. Some of their new songs are 'Bellow', 'Retaliate' and 'Cancerous' which are all on the new full length CD along with their fan popular 'Old Image'. Jonn, Tim and Ryan up with an energetic mix out experimenting without a bass player. They may reveal more on that in good time as I did see Adam in the crowd. The crowd thinned out a bit after the 'Filling Avoid' set. The band 'Phedge' did play out the evening without a bass player.
