Elfi Snow & The Tasty Morsels
interviewed at the Turf Club in St Paul, MN on Jan 28, 2006
Dutch - Let's talk about your band a little bit. How long has your band been together?Elfi - We've been playing for two years with some shuffling in the band.
Dutch - Do you got a CD out?
Elfi - Absolutely, I have two CD's out.
Dutch - Tell me about the CD's and your band.
Elfi - The first CD is called 'Little Sizzler'. It's got ten songs and features Leo Kuelbs on drums and the bass duties are shared by Erik Asp ( currently in the band ) and John Fletcher ( a buddy of mine from New York ). The second album is called 'Somebody Else' and features Leo on drums again and Erik on bass as well as all kinds of great lead guitar stuff with Ben Durrant as well as Ron Albert who is with a local band called Pop Cycle and Jeff Johnson and also George Bailey is the lead guitar. Currently playing with Tom Cook on drums, Erik Asp on bass and Mike Mann on lead guitar.
Dutch - Now, tell me about you. Cause I know you live in Brooklyn. Is that correct?
Elfi - Manhattan actually.
Dutch - Manhattan, Okay. And also you have a place in Mpls. This is kind of a place you hang out all the time.
Elfi - I'm a little schizophrenic so I'm not sure exactly where I'm suppose to be. So I kind of float around between cities in a little bubble.
Dutch - Lets talk a little bit about your art. I know that's your passion. Music is your passion too.
Elfi - Like I said, I'm schizophreinic. You can never tell what I suppose to be doing.
Dutch - Anything else that you want to say about tonight?
Elfi - We have a fill in drummer tonight cause our dummer Tom Cook had appendicitis. So we got Roy Jones tonight who never heard any of our songs until four days ago. And he sounds awesome. We layed ten songs on him and he memorized them. We just ran through the set this afternoon and he rocked.

Dutch - Okay Mike, how long have you been playing with this band?
Mike - Not for very long. Just a couple of gigs actually.
Dutch - You're the lead guitar player and how long have you been playing.
Mike - A long long time. I've started playing guitar when I was 15 years old and that's a long long time.
Dutch - How do you like playing with her? She's absolutely delicious.
Mike - If you say so. Yeah, she's alot of fun.
Dutch - Now I'm going to ask you the really painful question. How would you describe your music?
Mike - Well, I don't know. It's always difficult to describe anything. I think the best thing is for people to listen and make up their own minds. I guess that's where I'm at. I never like to describe anything.
Dutch - A difficult question. Original folk, original this or that.
Mike - It is original. For the most part it is very original stuff and that's what appeals to me. Elfi has a very good artistic sense in terms of songwriting and that's kind of a rarity with most songwriters. She's got some novel ideas and that's what I appreciate about what she does.
Dutch - And she's quite the artist.
Mike - She is a good painter. She's an artist that brings that into her music and I appreciate what she does.

Dutch - Erik, what part do you play in the band? And how long have you've been doing this?
Erik - I'm the bass player. Playing bass with Elfi Snow for a little over a year.
Dutch - What do you think of Elfi Snow and the stuff that she writes?
Erik - She's incredable. I worship her.
Dutch - Okay, tell me a little about you and how long you've been playing.
Erik - Well, I've been playing bass off and on since high school.
Dutch - Your influences?
Erik - Well, I played in a reggae band for awhile. So Bob Marley would be one. My favoride first bands was the Beach Boys ... I like Beck, Modest Mouse . . .
Dutch - Do you play with any other bands?
Erik - I've played with a band called 'Unguided Missles' and 'The Wild Dogs in the Wilderness'. And I play with my sister and brother inlaw a band called 'The Babtism River Ramblers' from time to time.
