The
second year of the Zombie Pub Crawl took place in the NE Mpls area on
Saturday Sept. 09, 2006. The Zombies gathered around 3pm at Logan Park
hungry to hit the streets in their quest for brains and other body
parts to feast on. Their slogan was "What do we want? BRIANS! ! !" The
Zombies took over 13th Ave as they headed for the 331 Club where undead
music was waiting. Zombies have no names and tend to take over
the scene in what ever fashion look or uniform that they are wearing
when they became Zombies. I don't recall seeing a Postal or Police
officer Zombie, but did see a nurse Zombie among the mix. If you left
your brians at home, you were
fairly safe from the Zombies - - they may only paw or nibble on your
limbs. The Zombie Pub Crawl began at Logan Park and their route was to
the 331 Club, 1029 Bar, Elsie's Tavern, NE Yacht Club, Whitey's Saloon,
The U Otter Stop and ending up at Spring Street Tavern. On this
evening, the first Pirate Pub Crawl also was in progress as they
gathered at Pilsbury Park and their route was to Tuggs Tavern, Nye's
Polonaise, Terminal Bar, Arones Bar and ending up at the Moose Tavern
across the street from the Spring Street Tavern. The Pirates were
rather colorful with their head gear, swords and there was a Pirate
flag and plenty of Rum. It looked like the Zombies preferred beer as
their drink for the evening. The Pirates lost their Flag to the Zombies
at some point, but would regain the Flag during the dance off at Spring
Street where the Pirates and Zombies met to party with Karaoke and Rock
bands in Club Underground. Some Pirates and Zombies that did not get
out early for the start of the Pub Crawl joined in somewhere along the
route or at the Moose and Spring Street Tavern where there were perhaps
around 500 people that gathered for this event.
